Emerald Beach, St. Thomas

*February 2018*

Every week we travel to many different islands and each location has a huge variety of things to do; even being on this ship for 5 months, I still feel like I have so many places I have yet to explore. My goal is to pick a highlight from each week moving forward and to write about that one experience rather than trying to fit a whole lot in just one post. I will also be writing about past experiences I’ve had throughout these 5 months as I have a whole lot of great places to share with everyone.

This past week was an Eastern Caribbean itinerary which included both St. Maarten and St. Thomas. Let me just say, these islands are absolutely beautiful, it was about 90 degrees and sunny in both ports and the views are breathtaking. The highlight this week was getting to enjoy the beautiful Emerald Beach located next to the airport in St. Thomas. The beach has soft white sand and very clear blue water with beautiful views of the mountains in the distance. It’s a very small, secluded beach and it’s actually within a resort called Emerald Beach Resort. They rent out beach chairs to those who are not guests at the resort, so it is open to the public which is great but also doesn’t necessarily attract too many outsiders.

The resort has an oceanfront restaurant/tiki bar (also open to the public) which is probably the best lunch view I’ve had all contract. There is also a really nice pool with an ocean view right above the sand. The best feature about this location though, is how peaceful and quiet it is because it is so small. I can assume most guests visiting the island via cruise ships head to Magen’s Bay which is on the opposite side of the island and is their most populated tourist beach (also a very nice beach but not as quiet).

During my beach time I also got to witness a few planes fly overhead which was something you don’t always get to experience anywhere you go and got to FaceTime my Mom, Dad and best friend while I had some service (since it’s a U.S island). To say the least, I had a great day in St. Thomas and cannot wait to go back to Emerald Beach in the future for another peaceful and relaxing beach day.
