Hi Everyone!
So this is my first official blog post and I'm gonna keep it brief just to ease into it a little bit. I have recently started school again to finally finish my degree, so I've been writing a lot of papers and what not, but it's been a while since I've written freely and about topics that actually motivate me.
If you've known me or have been following me on social media for a while, you'd (maybe remember) that I used to have a blog which was dedicated to topics revolving around my days performing for Disney, ship life, and the places I visited while on contract. It's been about 2 years since I stopped posting on that blog and honestly I have missed it SO much! I started that blog while I was quarantined on the ship with the flu (which seems ironic that I'm starting another one while also in quarantine. Seeing a pattern?) Anyways, I continued writing blog posts for the remainder of that contract during my free time, in between shifts, and to get me through to my debark day. The days were long, the weeks were long and the months all just blended together into one long ass contract. Honestly, I would find myself writing for hours when it felt like minutes, so it was an amazing way to pass time and relieve me of the cabin fever that everyone onboard experiences.
I think I stuck with the posts for a couple months after I debarked but then life picked up, I struggled to come up with topics since the whole theme revolved around my experiences while on contract, and I ended up switching my creative outlet to YouTube. I PLANNED on vlogging throughout my next contract, BUT I kind of picked up the camera every couple of weeks (if that) and just put the footage into one video after it was over-- kind of a let down. The thing is, we have to purchase our wifi onboard and we definitely pay WAY more than what it's worth, so if I even tried to upload a YouTube video while using the ships wifi-- it easily would've costed me a couple hundred dollars per upload. hahahaha ya no thanks. I still upload YouTube videos from time to time, but writing comes so much more naturally to me than talking to a camera, so I plan on being more consistent on here (but still subscribe to my channel for occasional uploads). Btw, this site looks and flows 10x better on a computer so keep that in mind.
On another note, we are all struggling right now and adapting to this new lifestyle that is quarantine and we all have our different ways of entertaining ourselves while the world is shut down-- this is mine from here on out (plus the often, but hopefully not as often, stupid TikTok dances and Netflix binges). I decided to open this blog space up for multiple different topics that inspire me rather than sticking to one theme like I did last time, because I want to be able to write as frequently as I desire and with endless possibilities to write about. Hopefully this blog will give anyone who wants to read it, something to look forward to, and another option for distraction, leisure and inspiration while we're all stuck in quarantine.
So this wasn't as brief as I had imagined it would be in my mind, but once I get going, I just forget to stop haha. I wanted to add in that for those of you that are interested and/or didn't get a chance to read any of my posts from the last blog I had-- I've posted the one's that I still had saved on my computer, before this post! They'll be under either the 'Travel' or 'Disney' columns so you can still check them out! I'd love to hear any feedback, recommendations, questions, suggestions anyone has to offer-- so please, always feel free to DM me on Instagram, comment under this post, or leave a comment under the 'About' tab. If you've made it this far, I hope to see you again for my future blog posts and we'll stay entertained together!
For now, stay safe, stay healthy, and stay home!
Rachel xx
